Something big is happening in the search world…
OpenAI just launched the ChatGPT Search Engine, and it’s got everyone talking.
Why?
Because they’ve teamed up with Microsoft’s Bing to create something that might just change how we hunt for information online.
Now, before you start panicking about the death of SEO (again), take a breath.
This isn’t some apocalyptic shift that’s going to destroy everything you know about search. It’s more like an upgrade to your favorite tool – different, but better… more of a fine tuned version… let’s think of it as a prototype to learn from instead of a giant slayer.
I Will 100% Say That ChatGPT Search for Blogging SEO DID NOT KILL GOOGLE… or won’t.
What’s the Big Deal About ChatGPT Search Engine?
Contents
Think of it as a feature packed personal research assistant that never sleeps…. and from my view works best on desktop…. just install the Chrome Extension…
When done, this little blue button will appear. It’s packing OpenAI’s most powerful brain (GPT-4o) and can tap into real-time web search results from third party search providers, news, and all sorts of cool information.
The cool part?
You’re getting topics from some serious heavy hitters like The Associated Press and Reuters… let’s call them media partnerships… (Though between you and me, there’s some drama there – News Corp and The New York Times aren’t too happy about their content being used for training and sued OpenAI before. But that’s a story for another day.) I’m sure there are more… I heard stuff about Vox Media, Axel Springer etc… I don’t know honestly.
I got this saying: “when the weather is bad… everyone else is inside, get out and enjoy it”
You know… living in a Monsoon climate is probably one of the coolest things you can do, you learn so much about things…
For me… rain isn’t bad… rain makes things grow… couple that with the sun and you got a jungle of opportunity.
So, when everyone else is saying “oh no, it’s remaining on the SEO and AI blogging parade”, I’m there. wellies on… rain Mack, loving the experience.
You learn a lot more about yourself and the fears of people when you don’t have them yourself.
Hell it’s why I released the Blog Profit Path in the time of what some were saying was the end of blogging lol… It is in it’s Barney.
I heard a great quote the other day… by a close personal friend of mine…
“The only thing to fear is not understanding. Everything else is just stories we tell ourselves.”
Well, that friend was me… I got it while eating a lovely bowl of Khmer ice cream with my girl… and it’s true… if you don’t understand it, you fear it…
Go grab a copy of Feel the Fear and do it anyway… great book, must read.
Here’s what makes ChatGPT Search for Blogging so special:
You can chat with it like a human,
It pulls info from across the web in real-time, even provides links to sources,
No more tab-hopping – everything’s right there in one place,
And… drumroll… you can optimize for it too. yep… cool, eh?
It’s like having Google and your smartest friend combined into one tool.
Except this friend actually remembers everything they read and doesn’t go off on tangents about their weekend plans and can respond just as you want… mostly.
ChatGPT Search Engine SEO: Evolution, Not Revolution (Thank God)
Let’s cut through the noise about AI search changing everything.
Has the ChatGPT Search Engine shaken things up?
Sure.
But here’s the thing – us niche affiliate bloggers don’t need to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
We just need to get a bit chattier with our blog stuff while keeping those SEO basics that actually work…
(Chattier… meaning the nuances of voice search SEO and NLP – natural language programming)
OpenAI’s trying to clean up the search experience, and over the coming months there is going to be a battle…
Have you noticed nearly EVERY SEARCH on Google now has an AI Overview lol…
No more dodging ads like you’re playing digital Frogger. Stick with me, and I’ll show you how to adapt to this search change (without losing your mind).
The Stuff That Still Matters:
Quality blog stuff Is Still King Look, if you’re talking about “Healthy Eating for Athletes,” don’t just regurgitate the same old protein shake recipes. Give them real, practical advice that makes them think “Holy crap, this person gets it.”
Being The Real Deal ChatGPT’s got a thing for credible sources (don’t we all?). Show your expertise. Get industry leaders talking. Make it clear you know your stuff. No fake guru nonsense here.
Speak like a human: Yep… this is big… (back to the AI voice search SEO video I made months ago)… this is your new way…
Why Should You Care?
Here’s the golden opportunity (think like the Golden Army from the Original Hellboy 2 movie)…
ChatGPT SEO is going to be a power punch for your blog… basically your ticket to becoming the go-to expert in your little corner of the internet… and build a reputation, email list and happy customers.
Let me say this again… THIS IS NOT AN SEO ARMAGEDDON!
It’s about getting inside your reader’s head and answering questions they haven’t even asked yet… ANTICIPACTING THIER NEXT MOVE.
Think about if you’re blogging about “Pet Care for Small Dogs,” don’t just list facts…
Share stories, experiences, and expert insights that make your readers think “Finally, someone who understands my Chihuahua’s attitude problem!” Think Cesar Millan
This is micro niche building time…
You know this harks way back to the whole concept of niche social media sites, it’s an adaption of this, but in your blog world.
Your world… your very own search model that you create, your articles, real ones… yep…your research into a singular query, your services on show, shopping items, money, a sidebar that helps, that connects interrelated concepts and ideas … your users being part of you.
Damn… it’s the date and time that Kevin Kelly wrote about all those years ago… all over again…
How This Thing Actually Works Picture ChatGPT Search for blogging as a super-smart librarian with access to live web data through the web search icon that connects with Bing. It’s not impressed by keyword stuffing or clickbait. It wants your work that feels like a real conversation.
Yep… concise – snippet worthy easy to consume that is free for the reader but, if done correctly, makes the readers want to know more…
I suppose if I think to how we create Google Ads… short sharp bursts of magic looking to grab the attention of the queries being asked… then we got something close.
Pro Tip (Yuk, I hate this term): If you’re writing an article about “Gardening for Beginners,” forget the “10 MIND-BLOWING Gardening Hacks!” crap… Just tell them how to keep their plants alive without the drama.
“Your plants will survive longer in an arid environment if you leave a straw attached to a sponge to allow equal suction of water”… or something of that nature… why?
Because (and pardon my French)… it’s F*ckin Human, and it’s easy to understand… and it’s FREE!
It isn’t clickbait… it isn’t buy my sh1t. It’s a company (or person) realizing that we are jaded with bollox… and we want humanness. If they like what they see… they will go to your article… which will have a link, and be displayed beside your short concise helpful snippet.
The Nuts and Bolts This isn’t just another search engine with a fancy AI hat on.
When you type something in, it actually understands what you’re after (most of the time – NLP and intent based understanding). Plus, it’s got this neat “Sources” button that shows you where it’s getting its info from – no more wondering if it’s making stuff up…
I like this why?
Because it’s already linking to my sites… even after the site is live just 56 days… so much for new sites not getting a chance.
The best part? You can ask follow-up questions like you’re chatting with a knowledgeable friend.
No more endless clicking through search results trying to find that one specific thing you need… damn you Google.
Think of it as Google’s cooler, more helpful cousin, with less clutter, fewer mistakes, and who actually listens to what you’re asking… most times.
Google SEO vs ChatGPT Search for Blogging: What’s Really Different?
Let’s break this down into bite-sized chunks that actually make sense:
1. It’s All About the Conversation Think of ChatGPT as that friend who remembers everything you’ve ever talked about and you have done (with memory reason that is).
If someone’s reading your “Home Organization” blog, they might start with bedroom decluttering and end up deep in closet organization territory. If you are unsure of how to use ChatGPT for Blogging you can check out our article here.
Map out your content like you’re planning a conversation. What would your reader ask next? (Trust me, they will ask.)
Use Miro:
2. Straight to the Point Here’s where things get interesting. While Google’s playing traffic cop, sending people all over the web, ChatGPT’s more like your straight-talking aunt who gives you the answer without the fluff… in this example below… the tree is in list format… but you get theidea
Make your blog topics snackable:
Clear, punchy headlines
Visual stuff that makes sense
Key points that pop off the page
All the stuff we talk about in the Blog Profit Path, and have been doing for years…
Or get ChatGPT to make the mind map for you… albeit in it’s infancy. But it lets you see how things fit together:
3. Talk Like a Human (Please) Drop the robot speak.
Seriously. If you’re writing about “Investment for Beginners,” don’t sound like a financial textbook threw up on your keyboard.
Read the stuff you write out loud. If you sound like a corporate training video, start over before you launch it.
Making This Work in Real Life
1. Think Three Steps Ahead Running a “Vegan Baking” blog? Don’t just drop the flaxseed egg substitute bomb and run. Lead them through the journey. “Now you might be wondering if applesauce works better…” (Because they are wondering.)
2. Keywords That Don’t Suck Forget keyword stuffing – it’s dead. Use phrases that actual humans use. If you’re in “Sustainable Fashion,” talk about “eco-friendly clothing” like you would to a friend, not a search engine.
3. Show You Know Your Stuff Your About page isn’t just digital decoration. Make it count. Link to your good stuff. Show your battle scars. Build trust.
Yeah, some big players like News Corp and The New York Times are having a hissy fit about OpenAI using their topics.
But guess what? That’s actually good news for us niche players. While they’re busy fighting, we’re building….
The Big Picture of ChatGPT Search for Blogging
ChatGPT Search plays nice with other tools, especially Bing. But here’s the real deal – you don’t need to compete with the media giants. Own your niche. Master the basics. The rest will follow.
Gary Vaynerchuck has talked about this for years…
Bottom Line Don’t throw out everything you know about SEO. Just make it more human. Think conversation, not presentation. We’re entering the age of Conversational SERPs (fancy term, I know), but the core really hasn’t changed – for ChatGPT provide real value, be authentic, and stay ahead of the curve.
Remember: Your blog needs to work everywhere, from ChatGPT to Bing, Google Medium, Pinterest… but it needs to work for humans first. The robots will figure it out… we tested it.
And hey, if you’re feeling overwhelmed, just remember – we all started somewhere. Keep it real, keep it valuable, and keep moving forward.
I got you. You got this.
P.S: Fear becomes us because we listen to much to fearmongers… the space we work in, the online business space is full of it… don’t fall for it.
Btw – I’ve just released a new report/guide on how to properly optimize to get found in the ChatGPT Search… interested… let me know
I might release it soon or keep it as an internal training doc…
