Alright, you’ve got WordPress installed. Pat yourself on the back and let’s dive into the good stuff – actually using your blog. Don’t worry, it’s not rocket science. If you haven’t done any of this you can go back and set up your blog hosting here.
Log In:
To login you can click the link that came in your email, or you can go into the Dreamhost dashboard and click that WordPress Icon… this is probably the easiest way to also set your new password though.

To log in via DreamHost’s dashboard and then click on “WordPress”.
Remember this button? You can log in this way, and this ensures if you EVER lose your WordPress password, you can log in via the Dreamhost dashboard.
Once you’re in, click on “Dashboard”. This is your control center. First things first – let’s change that generic title, shall we?
Find “Settings” in the left menu and click it.
Look for “Site Title” and “Tagline”. This is where you get to brand your blog.
Type in your blog’s name, you can put in a tagline, but I don’t normally.
Then scroll down and hit “Save Changes”. Boom, done.
Write Something Already:
Time to put your thoughts out there.
Click “Posts” on the left, then “Add New Post”.
Give your post a title. Make it catchy, but don’t spend all day on it.
Start typing in the big box. That’s your content area like you can see above.
Want to add a picture? Click “Add Media”. It’s pretty self-explanatory from there.
Play around with the formatting tools. Bold, italic, whatever floats your boat, it’s super simple just like Word by Microsoft.
When you’re ready to share your wisdom with the world, hit “Publish”.
See How It Looks:
Curious to see your masterpiece live? Just type your domain name into a browser. There it is, your blog in all its glory.
Remember, your first post doesn’t have to be perfect. The important thing is to start. You can always tweak things later.
Now go forth and blog, and well done… you now know how to post a blog post… pretty simple right?
